Description

She requires a free-draining potting mix and water when her soil is dry. Pop her in the bathroom where she will thrive in the humidity and brighten it up with her long-lasting waxy red 'flowers', but don't forget the sun she likes the indirect light. Otherwise, a nice sunny spot upon your coffee table would be quite the fit.

Actually, if you want to get technical and impress your mates, the red 'flower' of the anthurium is actually called a spathe and it acts as a shield to protect the spadix which contains several tiny flowers when in bloom.

  • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: I’m a low maintenance but bright and clean feature plant for a flat surface. Outside I’m the perfect understorey plant and add a pop of light to a dull living room or sunny kitchen island bench.

I grow to: I’ll reach 30-60cms high and the same across.

Where to place me: Indoors I like bright, indirect light but outside I need a shady spot.

Soil Conditions: I like moist potting mix and free-draining soil outside

Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently.

  • Size
  • I am currently 10cm tall in a 50mm nursery tube

  • Growing
  • The best thing you can do to promote blooms is to grow her in her preferred conditions just like any plant would want you to do.

    • Indoor plants use containers with bottom drainage and well-draining soil mix. Try half, and half mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite will provide the kind of soil anthuriums prefer.
    • Too little indoor light may cause the blooms to slow or stop altogether.
    • During the growing season, water weekly to keep the soil moist, not soggy and allow the soil to slightly dry between waterings.
    • Create humidity, mist the foliage several times weekly. The Anthurium does particularly well in bathrooms, as they like high humidity. Humidifiers are great for creating humidity, think of it as your new best friend.
    • When growing outdoors, place in a spot with partial shade. Look super planted in mass. Indoors requires a bright location with indirect light and protection from drafts.
    • Feed with a liquid feed during the growing season.
    • Re-pot every other year
    • If the leaves have a yellow glow, this means probably too much direct sunlight, move the plant to a place where the sun shines less directly.
    • Green flowers indicate too little sunlight and you should, therefore, place the plant closer to a window or place it more in the sunlight.
  • Delivery
  • Our plants are beautifully grown and have well-developed roots. They are hardened, can be planted directly into the planters and are excellent performing Indoor plants - it’s our plant promise guarantee!

We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants and fast, free delivery to your door
