Description

The Hibiscus cooperi Rosa-Sinensisis also gets called Variegated Hibiscus and is one of the most popular flowering hedges for coastal gardens. You'll know her from her trademark showy off red flowers that appear from late spring through to autumn. A dense growth of foliage and her tolerance for salt and high wind conditions means she is perfect as a hedging plant for coastal gardens, and her flowers make a good plant for a pot on the balcony.

Her variegated leaves are slightly serrated on the edges and is easily pruned to be kept the size you want. Place her in full sun to partly shaded positions in well-drained soil for the best effect.

  • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: I am great in a pot as a feature plant or make a good coastal hedge

    I grow to: 1.5m high, 1.5m wide

Where to place me: I like a full sun to part shade spot in the garden

My features: I am salt and wind tolerant

Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently.

  • Size
  • I am currently 10-15cm tall in a 50mm nursery tube

  • Growing
  • Fertilise
Fertilise at least 2-3 times a year with a high-quality slow-release fertiliser during the growing season to encourage flowering.

    Water
Water only as needed and don’t let her stand with wet feet. The problem is that over-watered plants can display similar symptoms like dry, thirsty plants. If the soil is moist then the issue is unlikely to be lack of water.

    Soil
I grow well in a well-draining, slightly acidic (pH 6-6.5) soil

  • Delivery
  • Our plants are beautifully grown, mature tube stock with well-developed roots. They are guaranteed sun-hardened, can be planted directly into the ground and are excellent performers for your garden - it's our plant promise guarantee!

We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants and fast, free delivery to your door.
