Description

Another no-fuss plant from the Hoya family. She is low-maintenance need minimal care - we just saw your ears prick up!

Grow her in a well-draining potting mix or soil with some good aeration; yeah, she will loooove that. Water her well in the growing season, but avoiding over-watering her or soggy soil will make her vulnerable to root rot and other yucky fungal diseases.

(HOY-a) Pubicalyx (pew-bih-KAL-iks).  If you can't find the right words, stick to hoya red. Otherwise, many people do enjoy hearing you try and pronounce it!

Her flowers have a sweet scent that is very noticeable at night. She produces a natural plant pigment, “Anthocyanin”, to protect young or soft leaves from intense light. This pigment is also found in old or mature leaves, protecting her from cold and harsh sunlight; listen to me with all the fun facts!

    I grow to: 2-3m high, 2-3m wide

Where to place me: Place me where I will have full-part indirect light

My features: I flower from Spring to Summer and you will adore my fragrance so place me where you can enjoy it! Hoya plants have different growth rates depending on the species; Pubicalyx is one of the fastest-growing hoya plants.

  • Growing
  • How to water me
I like to have a drink before my soil dries out completely. I will enjoy a regular drink at room temperature during the warmer months and sparingly during the cooler months.

    Soil PH
I will do my best with a soil PH level between 5.5-6.5, you can read more about the importance of PH levels here

    Potting needs
I really like a good quality potting mix and will do well in a 170mm pot.

    Tips and tricks
If I do not flower consider changing my position and see if this makes a difference.  Move me to a brighter area and possibly water me deeply but infrequently.  I also will enjoy a good misting.  You can train me to grow upright or cascade down a shelf. If you want me to stand upright give me a bit of support using a fancy plant stake. Keep an eye out for Mealybugs they do love me see how to get rid of me.

  • Delivery
  • Once your new plant babes are dispatched you will receive tracking information so you can keep an eye on its journey. Once in transit, packages usually take 2-10 business days to arrive. If you need it delivered ASAP we recommend upgrading to express post to get it there faster.

So your babes arrive in the best condition we hold off shipping if there is an upcoming public holiday or crazy weather event. We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants, and fast, free delivery to your door.
