The Lomandra spicata is a robust Australian native plant. It has flat leaves that grow from 40-80 cm long. It's a tufted, grass-like plant and is related to the grass tree.  

Spicata produces a brilliant orange coloured fruit and is the host plant for the rare 'skipper' butterfly.
