Description

With green spear-like strappy leaves, the walking iris gets her name from her habit of propagating herself! She drops new plantlets from the tip of her flower, that bend to reach the ground and take root - giving the impression of "walking" throughout the garden.

Walking Iris is low maintenance and tough, tolerating the cold weather and drought once established.

  • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: keep indoors in bright light or outdoors surrounding ponds, bordering pathways or in an understory.

    I grow to: 50-90cm high

Where to place me: Full shade/part shade

    Soil Conditions: Likes moist soil

My features: Beautiful flowers in Spring and Summer

  • Size
  • I come to you in my little nursery grow pots ready to go into your desired planters or ground ready for pathways etc. I will survive for months in my grow pots as long as you keep the water up to me.

  • Growing
  • Walking iris grows best in moist, well-draining soil in areas with light to full shade but will also tolerate some sun as long as it receives adequate moisture.

You should water your walking iris regularly during its active growth. Allow the plant to go dormant in winter and limit its watering to once monthly. You can feed the plant every two weeks with a water-soluble fertilizer in the summer or use a granular slow-release fertiliser annually in early spring as part of your walking iris care. Adding mulch will help with retaining moisture in the soil and insulating plant roots. This will also help with winter protection in certain areas. Blooms of walking iris plants can be removed once flowering has stopped.

  • Delivery
  • You can expect to see your new babes around 1-7 working days pending on your postcodes. But for peace of mind, it's also great to know our plants can last up to 2 weeks inside that box if by chance they had to.

Guarantee We take lots of care in growing and packaging your plants so they will arrive in amazing condition (we've sent plants to over 100,000 happy customers!).

However, if by some random chance your plants don't arrive in great condition, never fear, we've got customer service here.
