Description

This Philo is oh so smashing with his dark green leaves which bear lines of dark green broken up with whites and a light yellow tint too. He's nearly variegated in appearance. You don’t find many plants like it. Oh boy, the Garden Gods took a paintbrush across the leaves to make him an intriguing pattern one.

Philodendron Birkin thrives in bright indirect light as do most houseplants. You will want to give him the same feeling when as if he was under a tropical canopy. You have to mimic his natural habitat, his first home.

  • Growing
  • Direct sunlight for too long can cause leaves to start falling off. The plant will dry up fast and only be forced to wilt away. But too much shade is just not great for your Birkin either. It can cause too much space between the leaves, and the stems will start to sag = not a great looking plant.

Try to avoid over-watering your plant so you can avoid that dreaded wet feet. So, you want to wait until the soil is mainly (but not all) dry before you water it. The best way to check the moisture is to place your finger into the soil. The soil that hits your knuckle and above should be dry before you water the plant. Otherwise, we recommend using a sustee watering meter. They are a God sent!

Use a liquid fertiliser in the growing season only. He will love this. When the roots have expanded as far as they can go in the bottom of your pot, it’s time to move him onto a bigger home.
