Schlumbergera truncacata. This one is better known as the Christmas Cactus or the Zygocactus. It’s an interesting textured plant with surprisingly showy long-petalled flowers that hang delicately from the stem tips. Colours range from pink to yellow, lavender, orange and white.

Cacti are known for their prickles but this one has barely anything to hurt you. In fact, the branches are spineless, flattened and a bit pendulous almost weeping from the centre to form a really pretty arrangement. It’s also heat and drought tolerant - no wonder these are so popular.

Christmas Cactus grows everywhere in Australia particularly in the warmer regions, but it also makes an unusual houseplant in cooler climates. Hang one in a basket to make the most of the weeping branches or let it cascade down the side of a table. It’s just beautiful and pet-friendly too.

Make sure you don‘t overwater a Christmas Cactus because it prefers life on the dry side. Read our guide to houseplants if you’re not sure what to do.
This is an 8 pack of stunning Schlumbergera Truncacata.

Quick Facts:

  • What to use me for: Outside in warm areas, I make an amazing hanging basket or look showy planted en-masse in a sunny border. Inside I’m a textural flowering plant that’s edgier than my leafy green cousins.
  • I grow to:  I can grow up to 30cms and reach the same width.
  • I am currently: 12-15cm
  • Where to place me:  I need plenty of light indoors and warm well-drained soil outside. Please keep me away from frosts if I’m in the garden. They can't tolerate frost but they need cold temperatures to force blooms.
  • How far to space me:  Give me 30cms

  • Soil Conditions: I need well-drained soil or I’ll rot to mush - gritty indoor potting mix that doesn’t get soggy is important.

Our plants are beautifully grown and mature in size with developed roots and guaranteed sun hardened. These plants can be inserted straight into the ground and make an excellent garden plant.

Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently
