Built on Generations of Horticultural Knowledge
Plants in a Box was founded by The Prince Family, who have deep roots in the Australian horticulture industry.
With more than 40 years of hands-on experience, John and Debbie have built a reputation for growing healthy plants, sharing expert knowledge, and genuinely caring about customers and the environment.
John Prince is a qualified Landscape Architect, Horticulturalist and Arboriculturalist, with decades of experience in plant selection, landscape design, tree health, and creating sustainable outdoor spaces. His knowledge has helped shape a nursery focused on plants that don’t just look good on the day they arrive — but thrive long into the future.
Debbie Prince continues to run the propagation business that helps supply plants to Plants in a Box. Her experience in propagation, plant production, and nursery operations ensures a steady pipeline of healthy, high-quality plants ready for Australian homes and gardens.
Pioneers Before It Was Popular
Long before native wellness products became mainstream, John and Debbie were already showcasing their innovative spirit, running a Lemon Myrtle plantation producing dried leaf for tea and distilled essential oil of Backhousia citriodora
They saw the value in Australian native plants before many others did. That same spirit of innovation, curiosity, and respect for nature still drives Plants in a Box today.

David and Ella Prince brought a fresh vision to the family legacy.
With strengths in technology, eCommerce, customer experience, and marketing, they helped build a modern online nursery for a new generation of plant lovers.
