If you’re like many DIYer houseplant lovers, you probably have a room full of plants. But have you ever wondered if there are certain houseplants that should be potted together? It turns out that some plants thrive when they can mingle with their kind, while others prefer to keep things separated altogether. Read on to learn which plant BFFs make the best potted pals!

Cacti and Succulents - These two need no introduction; these desert dwelling plants live by the “the more, the merrier” mantra. Cacti and succulents love having plenty of company as long as they all get enough sunlight and water. When potting cacti and succulents together, remember to give each one enough space to spread out by leaving at least an inch between each one. Both enjoy sunshine otherwise they become leggy, so make sure you position in a brightly lit area.

Ferns - Ferns may look delicate and dainty, but don’t let their appearance fool you—they’re actually quite hardy! Fortuitous for any plant lover looking for a low maintenance option, ferns often fare well in group settings. If possible, try to keep your fern buddies in a humid environment since they love moisture.

Peperomia - have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their beautiful foliage and relative ease of care. When potting multiple jade trees together, it is important that they are all getting adequate light so none of them become lopsided or stretched out due to lack of sun exposure. To ensure your peperomia plants stay healthy and happy when potted together, rotate them every few weeks so no single tree gets too much or too little sunlight at any time.

Peace Lilies - Peace lilies provide a stunning pop of colour with their bright white flowers blooming in the summer months. And though these beauties work well solo (or with other non-peace lily plants), potting peace lilies together can create an even more striking display! Just be sure not to overcrowd your peaceful friends as this can lead to root rot or fungal diseases from overwatering.
