How tall and wide does Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud' grow?

Agapanthus africanus 'Purple Cloud' grows to approximately 70–90cm tall when flowering and forms a dense clump around 60–80cm wide. Its upright stems carry large clusters of rich purple-blue flowers above attractive evergreen foliage, making it an excellent choice for borders, mass plantings and feature garden beds.

Where is the best place to plant Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud'?

'Purple Cloud' performs best in a full sun to part shade position with well-drained soil. It's ideal for lining driveways, pathways, pool areas and garden borders, while also thriving in coastal gardens thanks to its tolerance of salt-laden air. Planting in a sunny position will encourage the strongest flowering display each summer.

Can Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud' be grown in pots?

Yes! Agapanthus Purple Cloud grows beautifully in large pots and containers, making it a fantastic choice for patios, courtyards, balconies and outdoor entertaining areas. Use a premium-quality potting mix with good drainage and water regularly while the plant establishes. Container-grown Agapanthus often flower exceptionally well when slightly root-bound.

How much sun and water does Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud' need?

For the best results, plant 'Purple Cloud' in at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish strong roots. Once established, it becomes highly drought tolerant and generally only requires occasional deep watering during extended dry periods.

When does Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud' flower?

Agapanthus Purple Cloud' flowers throughout summer, producing striking rounded heads of deep purple-blue blooms held high above its foliage. Established plants reward gardeners with an increasingly impressive floral display each year, attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators to the garden.

Why choose Agapanthus 'Purple Cloud' for your garden?

If you're looking for a low-maintenance, evergreen flowering plant that delivers reliable colour year after year, Agapanthus Purple Cloud' is an outstanding choice. Its vibrant purple-blue flowers, drought tolerance and versatility make it perfect for modern landscapes, cottage gardens, coastal gardens and large-scale mass plantings. Easy to grow and long-lived, it's a favourite among Australian gardeners wanting maximum impact with minimal effort.
