Anthurium andraeanum variety with pot option

A classy chick is the Anthurium. She displays the right etiquette with her dark, glossy green leaves and long-lasting waxy flowers in either hot pink, deep red or white depending on the variety you receive. She will love your home and much less work than an orchid.

Description

Anthuriums are popular, hardy plants that cope with lower light conditions, but if you’re a bit nervous about owning foliage she’s a great beginner plant that’ll make it easy for you. Plant her in a free-draining potting mix and water when she’s dry. She likes moist but not soggy soil and thrives in a bathroom where the humidity is high. If you can do this for her those bright waxy flowers will last for months.

This babe comes planted in a 125mm nursery pot and you can now purchase her with a self-watering pot or without a pot (please choose from the dropdown menu)

  • Quick Facts
    • What to use me for: I’m a low maintenance but bright and clean feature plant for a desk. Outside I’m the perfect understorey plant, and add a pop of light to a dull deck
    • I grow to: I’ll reach 30-60cms high and the same across.
    • Where to place me: Indoors I like bright, indirect light but outside I need a shady spot.
    • How far to space me: Give me 30cms of elbow room in the border.
    • Soil Conditions: I like moist potting mix and free-draining soil outside
  • Size
  • I come in a 125mm nursery grow pot.

  • Growing
  • The best thing you can do to promote blooms is to grow her in her preferred conditions just like any plant would want you to do.

    • Indoor plants use containers with bottom drainage and well-draining soil mix. Try half, and half mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite will provide the kind of soil anthuriums prefer.
    • Too little indoor light may cause the blooms to slow or stop altogether.
    • During the growing season, water weekly to keep the soil moist, not soggy and allow the soil to slightly dry between waterings.
    • Create humidity, mist the foliage several times weekly. The Anthurium does particularly well in bathrooms, as they like high humidity. Humidifiers are great for creating humidity.
    • When growing outdoors, place in a spot with partial shade. Look super planted in mass. Indoors requires a bright location with indirect light and protection from drafts.
    • Feed with a liquid feed during the growing season.
    • Re-pot every other year
    • If the leaves have a yellow glow, this means probably too much direct sunlight, move the plant to a place where the sun shines less directly.
    • Green flowers indicate too little sunlight and you should, therefore, place the plant closer to a window or place it more in the sunlight.
  • Delivery
  • Our plants are beautifully grown and have well-developed roots. They are hardened, can be planted directly into the planters and are excellent performing Indoor plants - it’s our plant promise guarantee!

We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants and fast, free delivery to your door
