They say don't go chasing waterfalls and why would you when you can create your own garden oasis in your backyard. The Blechnum gibbum Silver Lady will be sure to have you feeling those tropical vibes with her long, finely patterned arching fronds. She is a compact grower and loves a full shade spot in the garden or a nice bright spot inside. Just be sure to keep her away from direct sunlight as her fronds will burn. • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: I am a fast-growing fern ideal for pots indoors or a shady position outdoors

I grow to: 1m high & 1m wide but I will stay smaller in a pot

Where to place me: I love full shade or a nice dappled light outside, indoors give me a spot with bright light but not direct sun

Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently.

  • Size
  • Currently, I am good to grow sitting at 15cm tall in an 85mm nursery pot.

  • Growing
  • Drink preferences: In warmer months, when I am growing fast, make sure you keep the water up to me and don't let my soil dry out. In the cooler months take the watering down a notch and only give me water when the first cm of my soil is dry to touch.

Potting needs: I am nice and compact so you can plant me in a small pot make sure it has a drainage hole so I can breathe and don't skimp on the soil I really like a good quality potting mix.

Tips and tricks: I'm from the tropics so like it nice and humid. Give my leaves a misting or even better use a humidifier. When my fronds die, cut them off at an angle at the base.

Common problems: Old fronds will naturally turn yellow/brown before dying, but if you notice lots of new shoots turning yellow or brown this could be due to low humidity, poor drainage or inconsistent watering.
