Oh, Calathea ornata Sanderiana! Most likely, you will fall for the prominent pink stripes that perfectly radiate from the centre of her glossy leaf, like a fishbone. To add to her uniqueness, the underside of her leaf has a beautiful reddish-purple colour. She is a perennial plant and part of the prayer-plants or the Maranta family.
Incredible, healthy tubestock plants or your money back.
Calathea ornata sanderiana is a lovely dark green variety with pink stripes on the leaves. Grown mainly for her foliage, as her flowers only occur sometimes. Now to find her a spot with bright indirect light as she does not cope well with intense light. When she gets direct sunlight for too long, the beautifully detailed leaves will start to fade. As she ages, the pink stripes will turn to white.
She is quite the sensitive wee thing (actually, let's go with stubborn), and it has been reported by some growers to dislike tap water and prefer distilled or rainwater. Allow her soil to be lightly moist but never soggy or wet. The top of the soil should be allowed to dry out a little, especially during winter, when the plant is dormant. Her humidity needs to be above average - just saying!

What to use me for: I look good in a pot and make a great non-toxic houseplant
I grow to: 60cm high, 30cm wide
Where to place me: Bright indirect light
Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently.
Currently, I am good to grow sitting at 15cm tall in a 100mm pot.
Drink preferences: I can be a bit fussy - Never allow roots to be soaked with standing water, but they do enjoy continuous water availability in their soil. Water often to obtain this condition (with good drainage). Reduce watering in winter.
Potting needs: I am nice and compact, so that you can plant me in a small pot. Just make sure it has a drainage hole to breathe and don't skimp on the soil. I really like a good quality potting mix.
Humidity: A humidifier is just so great for this!
Tips and tricks: Check out our blog on How to Care for Calatheas
When the leaves start to get brown or yellow, it might be in an environment that's too dry for the plant. Make sure your Calathea is getting the humidity it requires. Most bathrooms are great for this.
When the pink stripes on the leaves start to fade to white, the plant gets too much sunlight. Move it to a place that's a little brighter!
Our plants are beautifully grown and have well-developed roots. They are hardened, can be planted directly into the planters and are excellent performing Indoor plants - it’s our plant promise guarantee!
We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants and fast, free delivery to your door

Succulents don’t like a lot of water and long periods of drought won’t hurt yours one bit, they’re the best type of plant for forgetful folk, or those that are away from home a fair bit, so don’t feel bad if you haven’t given him a drink yet. One of the most common mistakes people make is watering them too much! The best potting mix for succulents is a well draining one. Using a good potting mix of porous soil for succulents is super important to prevent overwatering. Water your succulent when the soil is dry. Soak it thoroughly rather than giving it regular sips and always empty excess water from the saucer as it will rot the roots. If you’re struggling try one of our self-watering pots they make a plant killer look like a pro! In winter succulents need even less water. You can touch the soil each week and if it’s even a bit damp then leave it alone and try again the following week. Succulents need little moisture and although it seems cruel, a sure-fire way to kill your beauty is by watering it frequently. This will turn it to mush.
If in doubt, leave it without.
Check out these green beauties!
