DIY Rhaphidophora Gift Box - Includes Double Arch Stake & Soil

Boasting broad leaves that change shape as he matures. Rhap, when juvenile, has leaves of blue-green and oval-shaped that spread out and develop deep, alternating lobes as he matures. Rhaphidphora Decursiva is a climber who attaches his air roots to trees; hence the add-on plant stake encourages his climbing freedoms. He's a breezy guy if you hit his sweet spot!

Description

The dude is a leafy houseplant that will bring texture to your home with its unique shaped foliage, climbing up a plant stake or tumbling down your bookcase, reminiscent of a palm frond. Rhap is a handsome guy who is easy to care for and has a high impact with a long table-top life (hardy). He's an epiphyte, a tree hugger, tree-lover that will stay more compact as an indoor plant. Give him a stake, yeah, he'll dig that.

*Keep in mind that all species of this plant are known to be toxic when eaten. This isn’t a good choice if you have pets that chew on houseplants or children who may eat the leaves. Its unique name indicates that the plant is toxic.

  • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: Did we say great indoor houseplant

    I grow to: 1m high, 40cm wide

Where to place me: I like bright indirect light. These plants will grow slower in too bright or too dark conditions. Rhaphidophora Decursiva plants will grow slower in low-light conditions and won’t produce as large leaves.

Watering conditions: Give me a good soak once my soil is dry to touch and go easy on the watering can.

Soil Conditions:  You want a mix that is going to have plenty of aeration and stay moist, but never soggy and well-draining.

Please take care when choosing your plants. Some plants are poisonous and individuals may be more sensitive or react differently.

Requires bright, filtered light. Indoors, direct sun is fine; outdoors, a little bit of dappled sun is fine as well. He is NOT a low light plant - he will grow slowly and will produce small foliage if placed in an area with too little light.

    Water
Please don't over-water me! Wait until my topsoil is dry 2-3cm down before giving me a good soak and drain. You should add water slowly until the water runs from the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot even when using a self-watering pot. Then top up the reservoir with a touch of water  - He'll take only what he needs. Warmer conditions require more frequent watering, but most of the time, when grown inside, you will be watering Rhaphidophora Decursiva once per week in the summer and infrequently in the winter.
