Description

Our boy Burgundy will suit every room in the house, he just digs bright light, but be careful not to place him in direct sunlight, or he'll burn.

Burgs is easy to care for. Plant him up in free-draining compost and only water when the compost is dry down to a few centimetres. Wipe the leaves down if they get dusty, and that’s it. Yes, really! If you need any more help, read our blog.

  • Quick Facts
    • What to use me for: I’m a big boy houseplant that brings impact to a gloomy corner
    • I grow to: I’ll reach several metres if my roots aren’t constrained.
    • Where to place me:  Bright, indirect light will keep me glowing
    • Soil Conditions:  Well-drained soil, please.

*Please note if planted in the natural ground these plants grow very large and have invasive roots so we recommend keeping them in a pot.

  • Size
  • I come potted in 50mm nursery grow pots and will grow big! I'm a great feature plant. Grow me into the next size pot gradually for best results. And give me a pot with a hole in it, please!

  • Growing
  • Place Burgundy in a nice spot where he can receive bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun will only scorch his leaves, but he will not fare well in low light spaces (no plant really does).  It's good to note that he will cope better in the lower light than his sisters, Ruby, Tineke and Shiv.

Overwatering is the biggest killer of Ficus, and they tend to display this with yellowing, dropping leaves. However, older leaves will also yellow and drop, so if you observe this happening, be sure to pay attention to which leaves are dropping, and check the moisture levels of the soil before reaching your conclusion. Changes in location, light, and temperature may also cause stress and result in leaf drop, so don't be surprised if he loses a couple when you first introduce him to your space.

Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust its leaves often so she can photosynthesize.

It's good to note that Burgs is easier than his sister, the Ficus lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig tree).

  • Delivery
  • All our indoor plants have fully established root systems and are ready to plant straight into your desired planters. We guarantee you won't be disappointed. We carefully package your plants into a customised box to ensure safe transport, healthy plants and fast delivery to your door.
