Nephrolepis cordifolia Duffi with pot

Nephrolepis cordifolia Duffi - is Hilary Duff's favourite go-to plant (we think it should be) yet Duffi is probably Australia's favourite go-to fern. The Arching fronds and small, rounded leaves make her the cutest frond. She loves a semi-shaded place outdoors or a well-lit position indoors to avoid direct sunlight, please.

Description

Nephrolepis cordifolia Duffii also gets called the Lemon Button Fern because her cute little leaves give off a lemony aroma when crushed. She is the smaller brother to the other popular fern "Boston" The Boston Fern and stays nice and compact in size.

She comes from tropical rainforests and is used to a damp, swampy environment. For best results pop her in a nice, humid environment like the bathroom and somewhere that gets nice, bright light but no direct sunlight. Keep the soil nice and moist but not soggy otherwise, her roots will rot.

Got some issues going on with your fern? Check out our blog 'Fern Care 101' it's a good one.

  • Quick Facts
  • What to use me for: I brighten your living space in a pot or hanging basket and like it at the front of a shady border.

I grow to: I’m a compact plant reaching 30cms high and 40cms wide.

Where to place me:  I love a bright sunny spot or I can handle a darker corner just don't put me in direct sunlight as I will burn.

How far to space me: I don’t need much room - around 40cms is enough.

Soil Conditions: I thrive in the fertile soil so use a good quality potting mix or fill the planting hole with organic matter. I’m a thirsty gal too and need regular drinks. For the brightest colour feed me gently, organic fish emulsion.

  • Size
  • I am 15cm tall at the moment in a 100mm nursery pot
